Salt and Light

Salt and light are such simple, ordinary things. But Jesus uses simple ordinary things to make an extraordinary point. Light shines in darkness and salt prevents decay. Jesus says to those who would be in his Kingdom, “You must be salt and light in the world.”

In the same way, let you light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

In being salt and light we join Jesus in His work of brining the Kingdom of God.

Sunday’s Readings
Matthew 5:13-16
