The Just & Justifying God

What is the heart of the Gospel (the Good News)? That’s the question which haunted Martin Luther during his arduous search for the “gracious God”. As he searched the scriptures again and again he saw a vivid picture of God’s holiness (and just how un-holy Luther was himself). One day he returned to a familiar book of the Bible, St. Paul’s letter to the Roman believers. It was there, in chapter 1 verses 16 & 17 that Luther finally found the gracious God he had so long been looking for.
